Patience is a virtue

Patience is a virtue

It is certainly true what they say, patience is a virtue. I am re-learning this all of the time. A month ago, I listened to a marathon coach talk about the key to surviving the marathon is patience.

This week during training, I would have some good days and bad days. On the bad days, I found myself getting frustrated with my pace or ability. I have to constantly remind myself that it's a work in progress and to be patient.

After all, it's only the beginning. This year, I want to run my best time in the marathon. I am working hard on my nutrition and cross training. Last week, I did the Spartacus workout three times. I can feel the difference.

It's just going to take some time:)

Getting a rhythm back

Getting a rhythm back

For the past week, I worked hard at getting out the door quicker. On four of my five running days, I was quick out the door.

Once I started running, I focused on my pace. On Monday, it was great. I ran fast. Every day after Monday, I struggled to maintain a faster pace.

It's OK though because my focus was getting out the door. To build this week, get out the door and run faster.

It's all about building blocks, so time to rock!

It's a virtue!

It's a virtue!

Yes you guessed it. Patience is a virtue. Today, I am learning that lesson. This morning I had to postpone my run because of dangerous weather. I was going to run tonight, but mother nature had a different idea.

I had to weigh the safety concerns. It's been tough, I would rather get the run in!

No worries- I will get back on schedule:) It will make the rest of the week a bit different and possibly more difficult. I will look at this as a positive.

Sounds like the overall plan to train for a marathon involves being patient. It's the number one thing it teaches you. WOO HOO!
